Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a molding of a low specific gravity with a better appearance and even foaming property by passing a melted synthetic resin through a ripening area as foamed through a drawing section of a die to form a skin and then, through an expanded sizer slowly inclined to complete the foaming. CONSTITUTION:An foaming agent (e.g. azodicarboxylic amide) and an unfoamed resin 11 of thermoplastic synthetic resin (e.g. PE) melted and mixed in an extruder are passed through a drawing section 13 provided at a resin passage in a die 12 and rapidly expanded and foamed to yield a melted foamed synthetic resin 14. The resin thus obtained is passed through a ripening area 19 which is adjusted and retained at such a condition to ensure the best skin below the melting point thereof (e.g. 30 deg.C) to form a skin. The foamed resin 20 is continually foamed through an expanded sizer 15 slowly inclined in the flow direction of the resin to obtain a molding 15 while still melted inside leaving a foaming force. The temperature is controlled to a level to match the state of foaming with cooling water tanks 16 and 17 as required. USE:Building material, car part material and the like.
