Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the breakage of sealed part and reduce the cost of a lamp by means of a luminous tube formed by sealing and attaching a metallic tube of titanium or zirconium provided with an electrode on its end, on the innert surface of the end of an alumina tube. CONSTITUTION:Titanium or zirconium metallic tubes 10, 11 are sealed with ceramic cements 12, 13 on the inner surface of both ends of a tube 3 constituted of alumina single crystal, and electrodes 14, 15 are provided on the ends of the metallic tubes 10, 11. Sodium amalgam 16 and neon-argon penning gas are sealed in the tube 3 to form a liminous tube. Thus, the heat generated from the electrodes 14, 15 are conducted to the ends of the luminous tube readily, resulting in the rapid elevation of the coldest temperature at the ends and the elimination of the breakage of ends of a luminous tube, and furthermore the cost is reduced greatly because costly parts such as niobium or tantalum are not required for use.
