Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a paint film exhibiting durability against long-term exposure and water immersion by coating a specific paint composition on the galvanized surface.
CONSTITUTION: A primer, consisting of 100pts.wt. epoxy resin composition with two or more epoxy groups on its terminal and one or more hydroxyl groups on its side chain (a), 10W200pts.wt. metallic zinc powder and/or calcium plumbate (b), 1W150pts.wt. one or more of oxyacid salts and metal oxides (c), and 10W 200pts.wt. flaky pigment (d), is coated on a galvanized surface and dried. And, one or more paint films of various kinds are further coated on the primer film and dried. The said component (a) is a mixture of an epoxy resin and a cross linking agent for the epoxy resin used. The said component (c) chemically reacts with zinc plating to give a high adhesion to the paint film; that is, in case where a phosphate as a requisite component is used jointly with an other oxyacid salt and/or a metal oxide, a chelate bond is formed between phosphoric acid and the hydroxyl group of epoxy resin to give a great adhesion.
