Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a positive component with an excellent corrosion resistance by coating the surface of a heat- and oxidation-resistant metal with a carbon layer, a graphite layer, a mixture layer consisting of carbon and graphite, a mixture layer consisting of carbon or graphite and molybdenum sulfide, or a mixture layer consisting of carbon, graphite and molybdenum sulfide. CONSTITUTION:A positive component, for example, a battery case 9 also serving as a positive current collecting body is made of a metal which has both heat resistance and oxidation resistance, such as iron, a chromium-iron alloy, a chormiumaluminum-iron alloy or a chromium-molybdenum-iron alloy. The surface of the metal is subjected to sand blasting, defatted and washed, before it is coated with a mixture prepared by adding molybdenum sulfide and flake graphite to natural Japanese lacquer. The metal coated with the mixture is placed in a furnace containing an atmosphere of argon, thereby sintering the coating layer. After that, the surface of the coating layer sintered is coated with natural Japanese lacquer added with a higher amount of graphite so that the conductivity of the outer layer becomes higher, before the metal coated with the layers is sintered again. An arbitrary thickness of the coating layers of the metal can be achieved by repeatedly performing coating and sintering in such a manner.
