Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a one-component toner for developing an electrostatic charge image having superior charge retentivity and giving high image density by polymerizing a monomer in the presence of a material having >=6pH. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic material having >=6(6-10), preferably 8-9pH and absorbing <= about 35, preferably 10-25% oil is used. In the presence of the magnetic material in an amount of about 50-300pts.wt. to 100pts.wt. of the resulting polymer, a polymerizable monomer such as a combination of dibasic acid and glycol or an alpha,beta-unsatd. monomer is polymerized, and the resulting solid substance is pulverized to about 1-50mum particle size. Thus, a toner is obtd. The preferred softening point of the polymer is abot 100-170 deg.C when measured by a ring and ball method, and the preferred glass transition point is about 40-110 deg.C.
