Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the manufacturing of rudder body by means of an inexpensive mold, by a method wherein plastic split rudder bodies, whose outer surface is formed in a streamline shape, are coupled using a reinforcing plate.
CONSTITUTION: Each of split rudder bodies 5 is provided with a hollow part 11 therein and a rib part 12 whose surface is brought into contact with a reinforcing plate 9. Holes 13, through which a coupling bolt is inserted, are formed in the rib part 12, and fitting-in parts 14, wherein a bolt head is fitted, are formed in the outer surface of the rudder body which is coupled to the holes 13. The rudder body is constituted such that a plate 9 is positioned between the nip formed by the split rudder bodies 5 and with this they are secured together by means of bolts. A necessary strength is obtained by the reinforcing plate 9, and the rudder body is manufactured with plastics which are easy to obtain a smooth streamline, which results in reducing a manufacturing cost.
