Abstract
PURPOSE:To transfer a toner image efficiently, by heating the toner image from the side in contact with the material on which the toner image is to be transferred, and applying an electric field, a magnetic field, adhesive strength, or a combination of the electric or magnetic field and adhesive strength in a state of temperature gradient caused by this heating. CONSTITUTION:The core metal roller 21 and the silicon rubber layer 22 of an intermediate transfer medium 2 are heated with a heater H. A toner image on an latent image bearing drum 2 is heated from the side in contact with the medium 2, generally resulting in forming a temperature gradient as shown in the figure. At that time, a part of the toner that forms the toner image coming into contact with the medium 2 is subjected to the adhesive strength of the surface of the silicon rubber layer 22, and transferred to the medium 2, but in the region between the short dash line and the medium 2, the toner attracts itself among each particle by its adhesive strength caused by the heating, resulting in enhancing transfer efficiency.
