Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the punchability of laminate at normal temperature and the dimensional accuracy of puched articles, by reacting a reaction product of a phenol and a specific component, e.g, a drying oil, etc. with formalin in the presence of a specified amine type alkaline mixed catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. phenol is reacted with 15W40pts.wt. xylene resin and 40W60pts.wt. drying oil (e.g., tung oil, etc.) in the presence of a catalyst, e.g., p-toluenesulfonic acid, etc., to form the first reaction product. This first reaction product is reacted with 0.95W1.60mol formaldehyde based on 10mol phenol of the first reaction product in the presence of 0.5W2pts.wt. alkaline mixed catalyst of diethylamine and triethylamine in a ratio of diethylamine to triethylamine of preferably 3:1 based on 100pts.wt. the first reaction product, to give the desired resin.
