Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition, prepared by impregnating a fibrous reinforcing material with a composition consisting of a glycidyl-modified unsaturated polyester and a polyisocyanate compound, and increasing th viscosity of the composition, curable by heating and pressurization, and suitable for a structural member having improved fatigue resistance, etc.
CONSTITUTION: 25W90wt% fibrous reinforcing material, e.g. glass fiber, is impregnated with a composition prepared by incorporating a glycidyl-modified unsaturated polyester, obtained by adding an unsaturated compound having a glycidyl group, e.g. glycidyl methacrylate, to the terminal carboxyl groups of the molecule with a polyisocyanate compound, e.g. 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, in an amount to give 0.5W1.5 isocyanate groups based on one hydroxyl group of the polyester. The viscosity of the composition is then increased by the reaction of the hydroxyl groups with the isocyanate groups.
