Abstract
PURPOSE: To treat human and cattle excreta quickly and pollution-free with compact devices by subjecting said excreta to oxidation treatment then removing the residual oxidizing agent by reduction with active carbon catalysts.
CONSTITUTION: Human and cattle excreta are beforehand filitered with non-woven fabrics, nets, or the like to remove suspended solids and solids. Next, they are put into an oxidizing tank 1, where sodium hypochlorite is added at 0.5W2.0 times the oxidation equiv. of the excreta, whereby oxidation treatment is carried out. Here, the sodium hypochlorite may be self-supplied by production with an electrolytic cell 2 for sea water. If necessary, an alkaline agent 5 such as NaOH is added to prevent the decrease in pH value owing to oxidation reacton. Since the excreta and oxidzing agent still remain in the oxidation-treated liquid, the liquid is put into a packed bed 3 of active carbon catlysts to decompose the remaining excreta with the active carbon and the remaining oxidizing agent is reduced perfectly in the form of salt with a reducing agent 4 such as thiosulfate, whereby the liquid is made pollution-free.
