Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce adding quantity of alkaline agent considerably in carrying out dehydration treatment of concentrated sludge produced through concentrating the sludge, which is acidified previously, in the drinking water by dehydrating mechanically the concentrated sludge as ferric chloride is added only into the alkaline agent.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge 1 containing aluminum hydroxide, which is produced in drinking water at a water treatment plant, is delivered into a mixing vessel 2, and its pH value is prepared to be ≤4 through adding a mineral acid 3 such as a sulphuric acid or a hydrochloric acid, or the like, into said sludge, thereafter, thus treated sludge is made to concentrate with a thickening machine 4.
