Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture an electrochromic (EC) display body with high work efficiency by using a paste consisting of a carbon material, a reversibly oxidizing and reducing substance and a cellulose binder so as to enable the formation of an opposite electrode by brushing, printing or other method. CONSTITUTION:Water is added to a mixture of a carbon material (a), preferably a mixture of graphite and activated carbon or carbon black, a reversibly oxidizing and reducing substance (b) such as a metallic complex compound and a cellulose binder (c) such as CMC to prepare a paste. The paste is applied to a substrate by brushing, dipping, printing or other method and dried to form an opposite electrode. Using this substrate as an opposite electrode side substrate an EC desplay body is manufactured by an ordinary method.
