Abstract

PURPOSE: To straighten the curves owing to winding set and make a welding wire feedable to a welding position with high accuracy by passing the wire through a wire straightening device consisting of a holding roll part and a torsionally rotating device in supplying said wire to a welding torch.
CONSTITUTION: At the time when a welding wire 3 would like a coil in a bale can 2 is drawn out from the can 2, it is curved on account of winding set and when it is fed to a welding torch 6 through a guide tube 4 and a wire driver 5, the leading end of the wire 3 rotates and fails to be fed correctly in the prescribed feed position; hence the weld line cannot be regulated. In such a case, the welding wire is passed through the inside of a wire straigthening device 1 constituted of a holding roll 21 and a torsionally rotating device 20 in front of the wire driver 5. The circumferential rotation of the wire 3 is inhibited by the holding roll part 21, and the twists of the wire are straightened by the device 20, thus the wire is fed to the weld line in the correct position.
