Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a welding wire of superior feeding performance lubricity, rust resistance and elecrical conductivity by satinizing the surface of a wire after drawing thence rolling the same in powdered graphite thereby sticking graphite thereto. CONSTITUTION:A wire after finish drawing is pickled and the surface of the wire is satinized. Thence, it is passed through a pre-treatment 14 to stick colloidal graph- ite 14a previously thereon following to which it is passed through the inside of graphite powder 15a in a sticking process 15, so that the graphite powder 15a is press stuck with guide rollers 16. By this method, the graphite is stuck in large amount intimately onto the wire without sticking of iron powder. The welding wire having the characteristics of not inducing harmful fumes and electrical conduction interference is obtained by this surface treatment.
