Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled molding material which can retain sufficient mechanical strength and has excellent impact value and toughness, consisting of a liquid rubber-modified phenolic resin and a polyvinyl alcohol fiber.
CONSTITUTION: 5W50pts. reaction product between an acrylonitrile-butadiene liquid rubber having a carboxyl group and an epoxy compd. is melt-mixed with 100pts. phenolic resin to effect the reaction therebetween. Then 2W30% polyvinyl alcohol resin fiber having a thickness of 1W5d and a length of 0.3W10mm is blended with the resulting modified phenolic resin to produce the desired phenolic molding material.
