Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the quick responsiveness and the durability of a D.C. brake circuit by employing a switch which short-circuits both ends of a phase advancing capacitor with a low resistance to be used as a bidirectional thyristor. CONSTITUTION:A bidirectional thyristor 16 is connected across the ends of a phase advancing capacitor 12 of a capacitor phase advancing induction motor 11 through a low resistance 13 and the gate thereof is controlled with a photocoupling thyristor 17 according to a brake command. When driving a motor 1, the thyristor 16 and a unidirectional thyristor 15 are turned OFF while a bidirectional thyristor 14 is turned ON. To brake it, the thyristor 14 is turned while the thyristors 16 and 15 are turned ON. During the entry of the brake command, as soon as a voltage is generated in the phase advancing capacitor 12, the thyristor 16 is closed thereby improving the quick responsiveness while any contact is eliminated to improve the durability and the reliability.
