Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a higher efficiency and a smaller size of a motor by ensuring energization only for a fixed time with a timer by means of a third capacitor provided on a compressor single-phase induction motor in addition to running and starting capacitors. CONSTITUTION:A third capacitor 11 is provided on a compressor single-phase induction motor in addition to running and starting capacitors 9 and 10. When the frosting of an evaporator 14 reaches a fixed level, a switch 12 is turned to perform a defrosting by energizing a heater 13. After the completion of the defrosting, it is turned to a timer 5b and the operation is started by a large starting torque with the capacitors 9-11. Then, a contact 6a is opened to perform operation with the capacitors 9 and 11 and a fixed time later, a timer 5b works to actuate a normal operation with the capacitor 9 alone. This can cover a peak load following the defrosting enabling an efficient operation of the motor.
