Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled monofilament having a zigzag (snaking) groove in the fibrous axial direction on the surface thereof without a slimy feeling unique to the monofilament, scarcely causing slippages in woven and knitted fabrics, and suitable for panty stockings, wooly georgette, high-gauge knit, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic synthetic resin, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate or nylon-6, is melt spun through a circular spinneret, and the extruded filament is then drawn and false twisted by a frictional false twisting machine of the external contact type. Thus, the aimed monofilament having a V-shaped groove in the fibrous axial direction and the depth and width of the groove changing in the zigzag direction without a slimy feeling can be obtained.
