Abstract
PURPOSE: To save the amount of catalyst used as well as raise the efficiency of dentrification by a method in which the concentration of oxygen in waste gas after being reduction and denitrification treatments in a furnace is regulated and then mixed with NH3, and then the gas is passed through the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Combustion waste gas of 1,000W1,600°C, containing O2 and NOx, generated in a furnace 1a is converted into a gas containing N2, HCN, and NH3 by a petroleum fuel supplied from a line 3. The gas is then mixed with a gas containing oxygen, e.g., air, etc., from a line 4 to convert it into waste gas containing N2 and a small amount of NOx. Then, the waste gas is mixed with air, etc., from a line 5 to make the concentration of O2 approx. 2%, and then mixed with NH3 supplied from a line 6. Then, the gas is passed through a denitrification catalyst layer 7 to decompose the remaining NOx into N2 and water.
