PURPOSE:To effect smooth flow rate control with high reliability by a method wherein a discharge flow rate is controlled on the basis of a difference between the most recent average flow rate and the preset goal flow rate and, when an anomalous sampling value is detected, the average flow rate over a time period not including such value is employed. CONSTITUTION:Materials are supplied from a belt conveyor 5a into a hopper 1 and then, a motor 4 driving a screw feeder 5 is controlled in its rotational speed based on an output signal from a weighing device 2 and a preset goal flow rate Qr. The average flow rate Qs is calculated by a processing unit 9 on the basis of the most recent N sampling values from the weighing device 2. When the sampling value which is judged as anomalous is detected, the average value over a time period not including such value is calculated. Thus obtained average flow rate Qs is input to a subtractor 6 and a difference (e) between the average flow rate and the preset goal flow rate Qr is fed to an adjuster, so that a rotational speed of the motor 4 is controlled to make the difference (e) zero. Thus, smooth flow rate control can be performed with high reliability.
