Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a cathode by shortening the length along the tube axis direction through using a button stem and supporting a focus electrode with a plurality of wires. CONSTITUTION:A focusing electrode 1, on which a focusing groove 9 and penetrating holes 10, 10' at bottom of it are provided, is connected to lead wires 8 which are sealed through a button stem 11, and is fixed and supported with it. One supporting wire which fixes a filament 2 is passed through the penetrating hole 10 spaced with no intermediate insulator and so that the wire does not touch with the focusing electrode 1, and connected to the insulated lead wire 8 which is different from the wire for supporting the focusing electrode 1. The other supporting wire 3' of the filament 2 is passed through the penetrating hole 10' and connected and fixed to the focusing electrode 1 using a fixing metal 5. If required for the improvement of electrical shielding and dielectric strength, a shielding cylinder 12 is mounted and fixed on the side surface of the focusing electrode 1.
