Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the assembly of a sealed lead battery, and improve the high- rate discharge characteristic of the battery by stacking a positive and a negative plate, which are formed by integrating unit cells with cell connecting parts, with a separator interposed between them, and filling a separating synthetic resin around the cell connecting parts. CONSTITUTION:A positive plate 3 having a positive lug 2 connected to a positive current collecting terminal 1, a negative plate having a negative lug 5 connected to a negative current collecting terminal 4, and the positive and the negative grid parts of a positive and a negative grid, which are formed by integrating the positive and the negative grid parts with cell connecting parts 6, are packed with a positive and a negative active material, respectively, thereby forming a positive and a negative plate 7. The positive and the negative plate 7 are stacked with a separator 8 interposed between them to obtain a stacked body. The stacked body is rolled around a winding core 9 made of a hollow pipe, so that plural unit cells are connected in series in the direction of the winding axis, while forming cell partitioning walls 11 and side walls 12 by filling the circumference of the cell connecting parts 6 with a separating synthetic resin 10, which is given the property of having difficulty in intruding into the holes of the separator 8 and the positive and the negative plates 7, by means of a filling device A, thus an electrode group 13 is formed.
