Abstract
PURPOSE: To supply paper smoothly to the last sheet in a paper feeder including a pad in which flexible fibers are planted and which is mounted on one side wall of a cassette, by using the pad having an outwardly concave part with which the edge of a little remaining paper comes into contact.
CONSTITUTION: A pad 6, in which long fibers 8 are planted and which is held by a reinforcing plate 7, is provided on the inside of one side wall of a cassette 1 having a bottom plate 2 which is energized upward by a spring. The pad 6 acts to prevent the overlap supply of paper 4. A recess 9 is provided on the lower part of the pad 6, to which the edge of a little remaining paper 4 in the cassette 4 is opposed, so that the lower part of the pad is recessed in the direction to extend away from the edge of the paper 4. When the number of sheets of the paper 4 has become small in its supply, the edge of the paper is located off the fibers 8 because the edge of the paper is opposed to the recess 9 of the pad 6. At that time, the fibers 8 of the pad 6 apply no horizontal pushing force to the paper 4 so that it is supplid without being deformed.
