Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of an automatic paper feeder and facilitate the coincidence of the timing of rotation of a sending and a registration rollers, by enabling a single solenoid to control the timing of rotation of both rolls.
CONSTITUTION: When a copier is on standby, a solenoid 16 is off and an engagement and stoppage lever 11 is swung down by a spring 15 and a lower protrusion 11b is engaged with the ratchet 9a of a spring clutch 9 at the side of a sending roll 1 to disengage the clutch 9 and a registration roll 3 is rotated by a motor 10. When a copying button is pressed for copying, the solenoid 16 is energized for a prescribed time at predetermined timing to swing a hold-down lever 14 upward to turn the engagement and stoppage lever 11 upward so that the clutch 9 is engaged, another clutch 6 at the side of the registration roll 3 is disengaged and paper 1 is sent out to the roll 3 by the rotation of the sending roll 1 and conveyed toward a photosensitizing drum by that of the roll 3 thereafter.
