Abstract
PURPOSE: To develop a coated electrode of superior welding workability and joint performance by constituting the coating material of the coated electrode with specific composition components and setting the bulk density of the coating material after baking in a specific range.
CONSTITUTION: A coating material having the following composition is coated on the outside circumference of a mild steel core as a coated electrode, and is baked, whereby the coating material of 2.1W3.1g/cm3 bulk densities is formed. The composition of the coating material contains 7W25% CaCO3 or MgCO3, 13W40% TiO2, and 14W33% SiO2, or further contains 3W20%, in terms of FeO, raw materials contg. iron oxide such as sand iron, scale, ilmenite or the like, as well as <40% iron powder or further ≤5% powder of alloy elements alone such as Cu, Mo, Ni, Cr or their iron alloy.
