Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the lubricating property of a porous article to be used as a mechanical part such as a bearing or the like, by impregnating pores of the porous article with molybdenum sulfide or wolfram sulfide.
CONSTITUTION: Pores of a porous article or an article having a porous surface, e.g. a porous metal body, porous ceramics, porous plastics, a metal article coated with a porous chromium or microcrack chromium-plated layer or the like, are impregnated with molybdenum sulfide, wolframe sulfide or the like. The impregnation with said sulfide is done by dipping the article in an aqueous solution containing at least one of thiomolybdates and thiotungstates of ammonium, alkali metal and alkaline earth metal, and an acidic aqueous solution containing at least one of inorganic acids, organic acids or their salts. After the dipping step, the treated porous article may be heated if necessary.
