Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a welded part excellent in rust-inhibiting property at a low cost, by forming the side seam part of a welded can body by a lap seam electric resistance welding method, and coating metal-exposed parts at the outside surface and both sides of the welded part with an organic film.
CONSTITUTION: A welded can body 1 is provided with a welded part 2 formed by the lap seam electric resistance welding of its side seam part. Metal-exposed part 3 at the outside surface 2a and the both sides of the welded part 2 are coated with an organic film 4 containing a pigment or metal powder. The organic film 4 inhibits the generation of rusts, shields filiform rusts which might be derived from filiform corrosion, and shield a discolored part which might by generated by oxidation. The whole or nearly whole outside surface of the can body 1 except the metal-exposed parts 3 at the outside surface 2a and the both sides of the welded part 2 is coated with another organic film 5. The can "1" is formed by an electric resistance seam welding method using a rotary electrode 9, and a paint 10 for the organic film 4 is applied onto the welded part 2 and the metal-exposed parts 3 by rolls 11W13 and then dried.
