Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head with a reduced change with the passage of time by forming a heat conducting channel to a part of a heat shielding layer of the thermal head to dissipated heat accumulated to an electrode conductor. CONSTITUTION:A heat shielding layer 70 is formed on an insulative base plate 1 and, further, to a part of said heat shielding layer 70, that is, to a lower part of a free end part 2a of an electrode conductor, a groove part 70a is formed as a heat conducting channel. Therefore, the free end part 2a of the electrode conductor 2 formed on the heat shielding layer 70 is contacted with the insulative base plate 1. In recording by a thermal head, when a recording paper 5 is moved to a direction of an arrow A, an adhesion substance emerging from the heat sensitive paper 5 is remained to an abrasion resistance layer 4 but, in the head formed as described above, heat accumulated in the free end part 2a of the electrode conductor 2 is effectively dissipated to the insulative base plate through the groove part 70a and, therefore, melting or crack is not generated in the abrasion resistant layer 4 and the resistor 3.
