Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A 5-methyl-γ,δ-unsaturated aldehyde compound shown by the formulaI(R1 is isopropyl, n-butyl, n-acyl, isoamyl, n-hexyl; R2 is H or methyl).
EXAMPLE: 5,6-Dimethyl-4-heptene1-al.
USE: Having characteristic aroma, this compound as a perfume component is blended with various kinds of perfume compositions.
PROCESS: A 2-ketone shown by the formula II is reacted with a Grignard reagent of vinyl chloride, to give a methylvinylcarboniol shown by the formula III. For example, diethyl acetal of propionaldehyde is added to the compound shown by the formula III, and Claisen rearrangement is carried out by heating the compound in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst of an acid, to give a compound shown by the formula I.
