Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful for the preparation of catalyst, etc. economically, by removing hydrogen fluoride from the gas produced by the electrochemical fluorination reaction, adsorbing the reaction products from the gas to activated charcoal, and desorbing the products from the activated charcoal with heat.
CONSTITUTION: The 1W4C short-chain perfluoroalkanesulfonyl fluoride prepared by the electrochemical fluorination reaction is separated from the reaction mixture, by removing hydrogen fluoride from the produced gas, adsorbing the fluorination reaction products in the produced gas to activated charcoal (e.g. derived from coconut husk, coal, etc.), and heating the activated charcoal (e.g. at 50W300°C) to desorb the fluorination reaction products. The process has various advantages such as the repeated use of the activated charcoal, simple apparatus and operation, etc.
