Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(R1 is H, aceryl; R2 is H, benzyl; Y is H, acetyl; Me is methyl).
EXAMPLE: Methyl 6-0-benzoyl-2,4-di-0-benzyl-α-D-mannopyranoside.
USE: Synthetic intermediate of an antitumor agent.
PREPARATION: For example, a compound of formula II (Bn is benzyl) is, after benzoylation, made to react with another compound of formula III (Ac is acetyl; X is halogen) and the reaction product is subjected to deacetylation and debenzoylation. The reaction of the product with a compound of formula IV is followed by deacetylation and catalytic hydrogenolysis to give the compound of formulaI.
