Abstract

PURPOSE: A vibration damper that is made by adding a plasticizer and a specific filler to a polymethyl methacrylate resin, thus being practically used, because of its good vibration-damping performance over a wide temperature range as well as good flexibility at room temperature.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of a polymethyl methacrylate resin are combined with 20W150pts. of a plasticizer, preferably a phthalic acid plasticizer such as diethyl, dibutyl or diallyl phthalate and 30W400pts. of a scaly and/or powdery inorganic filler. In the inorganic filler, a proper balance between the scaly one and the powdery one develops synergism in vibration damping performance.
