Abstract

PURPOSE: A cold waterproofing agent, prepared by mixing a bituminous emulsion with a highly concentrated latex, inorganic fibers and potassium hydroxide for stabilizing them, applicable at ordinary temperature and improving the operating ratio, and capable of giving a tough film having good weather resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A waterproofing agent prepared by mixing (A) a bituminous emulsion, preferably an anionic one obtained by emulsifying various asphalts e.g. straight asphalt, with a surfactant, and containing 50W65wt% asphalts, with (B) a latex of high concentration, preferably containing emulsified butyl rubber in a solid concentration of 66W72wt%, (C) asbestos as inorganic fibers and (D) potassium hydroxide, e.g. for industrail use, preferably at a weight ratio of components (B), (C) and (D) of 1:(0.1W0.2):(0.01W0.05), and the remainder being the component (A). The amount of the component (B) to be added is preferably 10W50wt% in 100wt% cold waterproofing agent.
