Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture iron-base sintered machine parts with high strength and high wear resistance by sintering a mixed green compact of alloy steel powder having a prescribed composition and graphite powder at a specified temp., oil-hardening the sintered body at onece, heating it in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to precipitate spheroidal carbide after degreasing, and carrying out oil hardening again.
CONSTITUTION: Powdered starting material contg., by wt., 0.40W8.0% in total of one or more among 0.10W2.3% Mn, 0.10W5.5% Cr, 0.0W7.0% Mo, 0.01W3.5% V, 0.10W8.0% W and 0.01W3.0% Nb, and a prescribed percentage each of Si, Al, Ti, C and O is prepared. A green compact of the powdered material and graphite powder is heated and held at 1,130W1,200°C in an atmosphere of a decarburizing reducing gas to obtain a sintered body having a higher alloyed carbon content at the central part than at the surface part. The hot sintered body is oil-hardened, degreased, and heated to 500°CW a temp. 200°C below the Ac1 transformation temp. in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to precipitate spheroidal carbide. It is then heated and held at 700W 900°C to carry out oil hardening. Thus, the titled iron-base sintered machine parts are manufactured.
