Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the disconnection of a winding by making the pitch of the winding of a resistor coarser for its portion near a heater side than for its central electrode side. CONSTITUTION:In a self-controlling type sheathed glow plug in which between the inner bottom 3 of a heat-resistant bottomed metal tube 1 and the terminal of a central electrode 4 inserted into the opening 7 of the metal tube 1 is serially connected by coupling a heater 5 and a resistor 6, each consisting of a metal winding, by a connecting plate 2, the pitch of the winding of the resistor 6 is made coarser for its portion 9 near the central electrode 4. Thus, the density of electric power in the resistor near the heater is reduced as compared with that in a portion near the central electrode, the temperature is correspondingly lowered, and the disconnection of the winding is avoided.
