Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart dehumidifying operation to an air conditioner without providing any special coolant circuit for the dehumidifying operation, by employing such an arrangement that cooling operation is controlled by detecting the temperature of a room to be air-conditioned at the time of starting cooling operation and determining a set temperature on the basis of the detected room temperature by use of a predetermined formula.
CONSTITUTION: When an operation selecting switch 10 is shifted to the position of dehumidifying operation, a thermistor 7 detects the room temperature at the time and a computor 12 calculates a set temperature by way of a predetermined method and stores it in memory. In the above process, an instruction value of a set temperature varying resistor 8 is ignored. Then, a thermostat contact 11 is closed and an indoor fan motor 13, outdoor fan motor 15 and a compressor motor 17 are set into operation, whereby both of the temperature and humidity of air in the room to be air-conditioned begin to drop and it is supervised by the computor 12. Subsequently, when the room temperature becomes lower than the set temperature, the thermostat contact 11 is opened and all of the above motors are stopped. By repeating the above process, dehumidifying operation can be performed by the air conditioner.
