Abstract

PURPOSE: To concentrate a solution of lithium bromide easily by solar heat with no use of heat exchanger, by dividing the inner space of a case into two parts, i.e., an upper chamber having therein a solar-heat collecting plate which serves as a solution evaporating chamber and a lower chamber which serves as a solvent condensing chamber cooled by a water jacket.
CONSTITUTION: Temperature of a heat receiving plate 10 is raised by direct rays of the sun passed through a transparent, upper case 1, and diluting aqueous solution 8 supplied from a feed pipe 5 and dripped onto the surface of the plate 10 is heated and condensed at 11 while producing vapor 9. Then, the concentrate liquid is taken out from a liquid sump 23 via an outlet pipe 12. Here, since air does not exist in the upper case 1, pressure of the vapor 9 reaches the saturated vapor pressure determined by the temperature of the plate 10. Then, the vapor is passed into a lower case 2 through pores 20 in a heat-insulating plate 3 and cooled and condensed by cooling water in a water jacket 15, whereafter the condensate liquid is taken out from a liquid sump 27 via an outlet pipe 13. With such a simple arrangement utilizing the solar heat, it is enabled to carry out liquid concentrating operation with no use of heat exchanger.
