Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish energy-saving operation of the above-titled apparatus and to simplify the structure of the same, by providing a rotary heat exchanger at a portion of a branch pipe of a main pipe for feeding uncoumbusted waste gas discharged from a converter, in the manner that it is isolated from the atmosphere, and exchanging heat between the high-temperature waste gas and substances to be treated such as iron ore.
CONSTITUTION: A heat exchanging apparatus of this invention comprises an annular plate 27 mounted on a suction duct 8 and a rotary heat exchanger 50 including a fire grate 24 and a wind box 43. The heat exchanger 50 is arranged to be freely rotatable on the plate 27 and it is isolated from the atmosphere by a hood 4 and the plate 27. Raw material to be treated is supplied continuously from an enclosed charging means 2 and a hopper 3 onto the fire grate 24, and after being burnt by high temperature waste gas supplied from a branch pipe 5 while the heat exchanger is being rotated, it is recovered in a recovery hopper 17 by means of a scraper 9. Downwardly of the charging means 2, there is provided a seal plate 11 which seals the bottom of the wind box 43 hermetically, so that the space extending from the upstream portion of a heated-raw-material discharging means to a place where charging of raw material is completed, in respect of the turning direction of the heat exchanger, can be isolated from the atmosphere by keeping the steal plate 11 in contact with the wind box 43.
