Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure torque continuously by suspending a power unit, consisting of a motor and a reduction gear, in a casing with a plate body to which a strain gauge is fitted. CONSTITUTION:In a casing 12, the power unit consisting of a motor 18 and a reduction gear 20 is supported, while an annular gap C is left, with a plate-like supporter 14 and an output shaft 28 supported rotatably with a bearing 30. To the supporter 14, a strain gauge 32 having lead-out lines 34 is fitted and both the ends of the supporter 14 are screwed into the power unit and a cover 16 with flanges 24 and 26. A quick chuck 36 is fixed atop of the output shaft 28, and a driver 38 and a nut bit are fitted. When the motor 18 is driven and, for example, a screw is turned up, screwing torque generated inevitably is transmitted to the supporter 14 as counter torque through the bit, chuck 36, output shaft 28, reduction gear 20, and motor 18 in sequence, so that the strain guage 32 detects the torque. Consequently, the torque is measured continuously and accurately.
