Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the adhesion of a support to a photographic layer without deteriorating the photographic characteristics by interposing the 2nd undercoat layer contg. gelatin and a polymer having repeating units each contg. a primary or secondary amino group between the 1st undercoat layer on the support and the photographic layer. CONSTITUTION:On a plastic film support of polyethylene terephthalate or the like having especially a hydrophobic surface the 1st undercoat layer having high adhesion to the support is formed with a copolymer of methacrylic acid and maleic anhydride, grafted gelatin or the like, and on the 1st layer a gelatin layer contg. 0.01-99wt% poly(vinylbenzylamine)hydrochloride or acetate, or hydrochloride of a copolymer consisting of vinylbenzylamine and N-vinylpyrrolidone in 50:50 molar ratio is formed as the 2nd undercoat layer. Thus, a photographic material having high adhesion between the photographic layer and the support film is obtd, without deteriorating the photographic characteristics even when the amount of a hardening agent is reduced to prevent a reduction in the image density in case of a silver saving photographic silver halide material.
