Abstract

PURPOSE: Cells continuously producing interferon are cultured in a medium for mammalian cell culture containing glucocorticoid, butyric acid or dimethylsulfoxide to increase the production of the titled substance.
CONSTITUTION: A cell strain continuously producing interferon, obtained by transforming lymphocytes originating from human fetus or neonate with Epstein-Barr virus, such as UNCL is cultured in a medium for mammalian cell culture to which glucocorticoid, butyric acid or dimethylsulfoxide is added. The addition may be before the start of te cultivation, however, preferably 2 or 3 days after the start. The cultivation and isolation of the objective substance from the culture mixture are conducted in usual manners.
