Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled coating soln. which inexpensively gives a cerium oxide film useful as an ultraviolet light absorbing film, etc., by dissolving a cerium compd. and a resin in an alcohol or β-diketone compd., said cerium compd. and said resin being soluble in said alcohol or β-diketone compd.
CONSTITUTION: 50W200pts.wt. Cerium compd. soluble in an alcohol or a β-diketone compd. such as cerous nitrate, 30W500pts.wt. resin soluble in said alcohol or β- diketone compd. such as a butyral resinm 100W200pts.wt. alcohol such as methanol and/or β-diketone compd. such as an acetoacetic ester, and pref. further 0W200pts.wt. activator such as cobalt nitrate, are mixed together to produce the desired coating soln. This coating soln. is coated on a substrate such as glass or a metallic sheet, dried and calcined to obtain a cerium oxide film.
