Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain amorphous inorg. materials having various sectional shapes by blowing the melt of a mixture that can form an alloy or solid solution respectively into high velocity parallel flow of gas thereby quickly cooling and stretching the same simultaneously.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture that can form an alloy or solid solution is put in a vessel 1, and is heated 2 to prepare melt 2. On the other hand, the gaseous flow of high velocity supplied from a vent pipe 5 is first regrlated by the 1st flow straightening plate 6 to parallel flow which is regulated again by the 2nd flow strainghtening plate 7 to perfect high velocity parallel flow 8 just before the blow port of a nozzle 4. The melt 3 in the vessel 1 is blown out from the nozzle 4 into the flow 8 of gas by a pressurizing device within a 0W90° angle range. This blown melt 3 is quickly cooled by the geseous flow and is simultaneously stretched to an amorphous inorg. material 9 of, for example, a wire shape, which is taken up with a coiler. It is necessary to make the velocity of flow of the gas in this cse higher than the velocity of flow of the melt, and it is usually preferably about 5W100m/sec.
