Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the malfunction of a programmable logical controller, by providing an attachment/detachment detecting means to detect whether a memory module is attached to the controller main body or not. CONSTITUTION:An MNOS nonvolatile memory 8 in a memory module 2 connected to a connector 3 receives the supply of electric power from positive and negative power supply lines V+ and V- via joints J3 and J4 respectively. In addition, a 0-volt line V0 is connected to a joint J5 of the connector 3, and the joint J5 is connected to the joint J1 at the side of the module 2. When the connection is correct between the module 2 and the connector 3, the potential is set at 0 volt for the joint J1 of the PLC main body 1. If the module 2 is out of the connector 3, the signal EC is pulled up to the line V+ through a resistance R to be set at the high level ''1''. In other words, whether the module 2 is attached to the controller main body or not is detected by the potential of the signal EC.
