Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an ethylenic polymer containing no fine particle causing the blocking of a continuous polymerizing apparatus, by classifying ethylenic polymeric particles in a suspension discharged from a polymerizer continously, and returning the fine particle part to the same polymerizer.
CONSTITUTION: Ethylene is polymerized continuously in a hydrocarbon solvent, preferably at 20W100°C, or ethylene is copolymerized with a 3W16C α-olefin, e.g. propylene. In the process, ethylenic polymeric particles in a suspension discharged from a polymerizer are continuously classified to return a portion, containing 1W 30wt%, based on the total portion, finer particles, and having a weight-average particle diameter preferably ≤200μ to the same polymerizer and further polymerize the ethylene.
