Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a novel polypyrazole, having improved heat resistance and solubility in solvents, and usable as a heat-resistant resin, by reacting a bis-β-diketone with a dihydrazine expressed by specific formulas respectively.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A bis-β-diketone, preferably octane-2,4,5,7-tetraone, expressed by formulaI(R2 and R3 are monofunctional substitutent groups) is subjected to the cylization and polycondensation with (B) a dihydrazine, preferably bis(4-hydrazinophenyl)sulfone, expressed by formula II(R1 is bifunctional organic group) in an organic solvent, e.g. N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, with stirring under heating to give (C) a polypyrazole expressed by formula III. The amounts of the components (A) and (B) are preferably such that either one is within 5mol% excess.
