Abstract

PURPOSE: A lubricating oil composition especially suitable for using a high-pressure compressor for preparing high-pressure polyethylene obtained by adding a specific amount of a specified branched chain type alkenylsuccinic acid (half ester) as an extreme pressure additive to a base oil of hydrocarbon oil.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrocarbon oil preferably comprising polybutene as a base oil is blended with 0.1W5wt% (preferably 0.1W1wt%) 12W40C branched chain type alkenylsuccinic acid and/or a hydroxyl group-containing half ester of the succinic acid, to give the desired lubricating oil composition. The alkenylsuccinic acid is obtained by reacting a branched chain type olefin, e.g., polybutene, etc, with maleic anhydride, and the half ester is obtained by reacting the alkenylsuccinic acid with a (poly)alkylene oxide, etc.
