Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent loss of thermal energy and generation of defective by forecasing the load variation of steel material from the temperature gradient in the preheating zone of the furnace and fuel consumption and making the furnace temperature optimum. CONSTITUTION:The temperature descent of combustion gas which is measured by the thermometers 32, 33 provided along preceeding direction of steel material in the preheating zone 31 of the furnace and also the fuel consumption during that time are inputted in the load forecast computer 34. Then the computer 34 calculates the load of steel material charged in the preheating zone 31 from said temperature descent and fuel consumption and outputs to the computer 35. Next, the computer 35 decides timing of fuel feed and the furnace temperature according to the carrying speed of steel material and the distance between the thermometer position and the fuel feed position and outputs those to the controller 36. Thus the preheating zones 16, 18 are controlled to the predetermined temperature by the controller 36.
