Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure values in a wide range accurately and continuously by attaching a rotary disk with a window and a screen disk for covering the window respectively to a driven shaft and a driving shaft, both of which are installed on the same axial line, and detecting the relative rotation status of both disks by photoelectric conversion elements. CONSTITUTION:A driving shaft 1 and a driven shaft 8 are supported on the same axial line of a case 5 so as to rotate freely. A screen disk 16 with a transparent part is adhered to the driving shaft 1 through a shaft part and a cylindric part 3. Both end ends of a powder transmitting spring 12 are connected between the driven shaft 8 and a cylindrical part 3. Light receiving and emitting elements 18, 19 interposing the rotary disk 13 and the screen disk 16 detect the relative positions of both the disks. The light emitting element 18 controlled by pulses generated from an oscillator emits light and a counter circuit counts up a light pulse through the detected window 15 and the screen disk 16, finding the relative angles of both the disks 13, 16. The driven shaft 8 and a shaft 10 to be driven are rotated in one body by a spline key 11b. Thus, torque in a wide range can be detected continuously and accurately.
