Abstract

PURPOSE:To test securely whether a terminating terminal is connectable, by sending a test signal from a data exchange to the terminating terminal repeatedly until a prescribed answer signal is sent back. CONSTITUTION:Once an originating terminal 1 originates, a central controller 22 sends a signal transmission command to a signal control circuit 23A. The signal control circuit 23A opens its gate only for a prescribed time T1 from a time t1 to send a test signal from a signal generator 24 to a data circuit 4. A terminating terminal 3, when connectable, sends an FSK signal to an aswer circuit 5. If the central controller 22 can not receive the FSK signal within the time T1 from the time t1, a test signal is sent out again a time T2 later. Thus, the test signal is sent out repeatedly within the prescribed limit time until the anwser signal is detected.
